Orton Gillingham is an approach used to help students spell, read, and write. Backed by many years of research Orton Gillingham is very effective for students who have dyslexia or any struggling reader read on grade level.
Orton Gillingham tutoring is student centered meaning it is adapted to the unique reading needs of your student.
Tutoring is completed one on one virtually through Zoom or in person in Saint Mary’s Georgia.

Assessment
Students first receive an Assessment to learn their unique learning needs. You will receive a detailed report regarding my findings and a individualized reading plan for your student.

Reading Tutoring
Based upon your student’s reading goals they will meet with me weekly to practice new skills and become stronger readers.

The test students on sounds of many letters, units or clusters. Students also get a chance to read common words and words with irregular spelling. They will also be told to spell words.

DIBELS stands for Dynamic Indicators of Basic Early Literacy Skills. The Test is categorized by grade level and can cover letter names, nonsense words to measure decoding skills, and measure if students are reading on grade level.

Your student will work one on one me on their reading goals either virtually or in person

Reading goals will target the five pillars of reading instruction; phonemic awareness, phonics, comprehension, fluency and vocabulary.

Students learn the unique sounds associated with different letters and letter combinations, which allows them the ability to decode words while improving their spelling skills.

Students will learn how to structure sentences, the rules of English grammar and how to express themselves in written form.
